I just found out about this AMAZING program! There are organic farms all over the world who will take you in, give you free room and board, and teach you how they do their thing. In return you just help them out around the farm every day for a few months. AMAZING! What a brilliant way to see the world and learn amazing things. As soon as I graduate, we are doing this.

Also, I was trying to think of some positive, powerful, inspiring, prominent female role models available for young girls today... and they are shockingly non-existent. I feel like I'm missing someone obvious but... any thoughts? I don't really consider pop stars or politicians role models, because their lives are based on money/lies/self-promotion. Can you think of anyone?
Our backyard garden is doing ok! We've got tomatoes, eggplant, cantaloupe, and potatoes back there now. We're going to add a whole row of greens, since my potted ones are doing so well, and a row of beans/peas. (he's tenderizing the new rows in the picture.)

We watched this today in class:

I knew most of it, but there were some great terms concerning consumerism that I hadn't heard before.

| internet songs |
[Feb 03 2009 / 6:30pm] |
While I'm in class, Ash goes to random websites and writes a song about each one, as a creative exercise.
Since he's been neglecting The Low Dose, this is what you get in the meantime! You get to see some behind-the-scenes song-writing too...

| Why I'm voting for Obama |
[Oct 27 2008 / 10:47am] |

"These two boys waited as a long line of adults greeted Senator Obama before a rally on Martin Luther King Day in Columbia, S.C. They never took their eyes off of him. Their grandmother told me, “Our young men have waited a long time to have someone to look up to, to make them believe Dr. King’s words can be true for them.” Jan. 21, 2008."
I don't vote for someone who will help ME, I vote for someone who will help those who need it.
